Engaging with critical issues at the intersection of AI and Society, August 26, 2021.
FCAI Society organized an online retreat for scholars, researchers and practitioners working at the intersection of AI, law, social sciences and ethics. The purpose was to meet, network and discuss topical issues around AI and Society and how to support a cross-disciplinary community critically engaged in these concerns in Finland. The event was informal to encourage discussion and dialogue; over 60 people* from diverse disciplines with research interests in AI and Society participated to discuss the the most pressing issues surrounding AI/ML currently.
FCAI Society is an interdisciplinary group of experts with the goal of analysing AI technology as a social and societal game changer. Founded in March of 2018, FCAI Society has sought experts from philosophy, ethics, sociology, legal studies, psychology and art to explore the impact AI will have in all aspects of our lives. FCAI stands for the Finnish Center for Artificial Intelligence. Website: https://fcai.fi/fcai-society
* Both aspiring and experienced participants (especially PhDs and post-docs) were invited whose research and interests would be most compelling for this gathering.
