Intensely engaging days attending crucial events around the Paris AI Action Summit last week. While the formal statements by politicians and big tech leaders at the summit got a great deal of coverage by the media, there were far more insightful panels, symposia, workshops, and roundtable deliberations around responsible AI, democracy, participatory practices and policies among academics, think tanks, startups and civil society.
It felt much more inspiring and impactful to participate in those global conversations over 5 days in Paris. There’s a great deal we must all do to play our part in ensuring the voices of civil society, the global majority, and democracy is made central to any future that involves the responsible, inclusive, and trustworthy development, use and governance of AI-based innovations in society.
